RNLI lifeguards carried out two rescues on the beaches along Whitsand Bay as a weekend bathed in sunshine brought beach-goers flocking to the coast.
The lifeguards had a busy time ensuring people had a safe and enjoyable time and as Chris Wafer, RNLI lifeguard supervisor, explained: 'The lifeguards were mainly providing safety advice to beach-goers and dealing with a host of minor first aid incidents, including cuts and scrapes.
'However, on Sunday, the lifeguards rescued a father and his two boys by boat when they were cut off by the tide.
'They were in a cove between Tregantle and Sharrow beaches and were spotted by RNLI lifeguards Beau Gillett and Aidan Hetherington during a routine patrol of the area at around 11am.
'The cove would have remained cut off until around 4pm so they would have had a long wait!
'We'd always advise anyone who intends to venture away from the main lifeguarded area of the beach to check the tide times first.'
A couple of hours later, the charity's lifeguards were tasked to assist the volunteer coastguard cliff rescue teams from Looe and Torpoint to locate three people who were stuck up the cliff at Freathy.
It is thought the three had attempted to climb the cliff after they were cut off by the tide.
RNLI lifeguards Aidan Hetherington and Terry Dungay launched the inshore rescue boat from Tregantle beach and located them on a ledge halfway up. The lifeguards stood off the climbers' location as a marker for the cliff rescue teams to make their descent. Once the cliff teams were with the climbers, the lifeguards brought the boat in closer to act as safety cover should anyone fall. The trio were winched up the cliff to safety.
