The cut and thrust of the very competitive Enterprise class enthralled the large gathering of spectators at the Hannafore Sailing Point, with the moderate south-westerly wind making for ideal sailing conditions.

Race officer Brian Carvey had to call the fleet to order with the two general recalls before the start.

The race turned into a classic, with Robert and Bianca Libby having to pull out all the stops to keep newcomers to the fleet, Tim Jackman and nephew Joe, in their Irish-built racing machine, Norman, at bay.

Third over the line was Francis Marshall and crew Sally Greenwood who, with one eye on the following pack, failed to outfox the leaders in the predictable conditions.

In the Mirror class, Team Jaycock recaptured last year's winning ways with a textbook display to overcome class leaders Brian Bowdler and daughter Esther, who had seemed unbeatable until now.

Jack Spree and crew Amber Palfrey, came home in third spot.
