Let supermarket sense prevail
Why, oh why, all this wretched uproar about a superstore? Let common sense prevail. If we really need one, then why not site it on the outskirts of Looe, where it could grow and develop to its hearts content without congesting our picturesque town with traffic, noise and stress?
As you know, superstores are a bit like ants, you start with one and then you end up with a colony. Before long, other shops appear, together with petrol filling stations, garden centres, industrial units etc. They needs plenty of space to spread, as spread they will.
I was lucky enough to be born and bred in this beautiful part of the world and have always assumed that other people have moved here due to the prettiness of the harbour, river, woods and surrounding countryside, together with the peace and tranquillity that these give. During my 55 years, there has been a lot of development in Looe, some good, some dreadful, so please let's stop and think before we spoil our truly magnificent valley for ever.
Please take the time to look across from East to West Looe and imagine what a superstore complex would look like in, say. 10 years from now and how it would alter the valley.
