In this week’s packed Cornish Times, in shops from today (Friday), we lead with a report and pictures on Prince Charles’ and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall’s visit to Cornwall, including the Ginsters factory at Callington, the Eden Project and the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery at Lostwithiel.
We also report that record numbers attended this year’s Liskeard Show, and as well as a news report we have a four-page pull-out with pictures and results from the event.
Meanwhile Britain in Bloom judges have heaped much praise on volunteers’ floral efforts around the town.
In other news we report that a newly restored set of church bells from St Andrew’s, Calstock, are to be put on public display before being rehung in the tower, and that archaeologists say that discoveries made during the recent Trethevy Quoit dig are likely to transform our understanding of the prehistoric site.
A South East Cornwall school that came second in a national jokes competition has received the prize of a visit and comedy workshop from the team at The Beano, and children everywhere are being set a space-themed summer reading challenge as parents in Cornwall are being urged to talk more to their offspring to help improve their communication skills.
People across the district are also being urged to vote for an award bid by a community interest organisation that helps vulnerable young people into further learning, training and employment.
We also have several pages giving details of what you can expect at the forthcoming Looe Carnival, the Latchley, Chilsworthy and Coxpark Show, Boconnoc Steam Fair and Launceston Show. We also have great pictures from the recent fun action at Polperro Water Carnival and Menheniot Cherry Fayre.
As well as our regular columns like Ray Roberts’ Nature Watch, your Letters, TV Choice and latest Books, this week’s edition has nine pages of Sport and Farming, Leisure, Antiques, Property and Motoring sections.
Find all of this and more in this week’s Cornish Times, in shops from today (Friday).
