Hundreds of people braved bitterly cold weather to parade lanterns at the annual Downderry and Seaton lantern parade. Organised by local voluntary group Turning Tide, the parade is now in its second year.

Local people, young and old, walked from Seaton Park along the coast road into Downderry lighting up the road as they travelled. Many had made their colourful lanterns at the workshops put on by Turning Tide at the Coastal Zone.

A life-sized deer lantern led the parade followed by lanterns of all shapes and sizes. Walkers were met at Broads Yard with refreshments from the Blue Plate restaurant.

One of the organisers Jacqui Gratton said: 'It was great to see so many people coming out on a cold winter's night. It shows the fantastic community spirit is very much alive and well. A big thanks has to go to those who have put a lot of time and effort into organising the event which is now a part of the local Christmas calendar. This wonderful event that has really got villagers in the festive mood.'

The crowds ended the night with carols around the village Christmas tree.
