A LUXURY holiday park tucked away in the Cornish countryside has been crowned the best in the UK at a prestigious national awards ceremony.

Stonerush Lakes, near Lanreath, has struck gold in the Best Holiday Park or Resort category at the 2026 Sykes Gem Awards, beating competition from thousands of holiday properties across the UK and Ireland.

Set across 28 acres of countryside, the resort has become a popular retreat for visitors looking to escape to Cornwall, with its lakes, woodland and luxury lodges offering a peaceful setting away from the crowds.

The site began life as a fishery around 20 years ago before gradually developing into the holiday destination it is today.

Its lodges are carefully positioned throughout the grounds, with around three per acre, helping guests enjoy privacy while taking in the surrounding landscape.

Accommodation ranges from one to three-bedroom lodges, many featuring private hot tubs and lakeside decking. The latest addition, The Hideout, boasts a covered outdoor space, copper spa bath and its own cinema room.

Visitors can also enjoy The Old Mill Bar and Restaurant, a restored watermill overlooking the lake which has recently been relaunched.

Wildlife is another attraction, with resident storks Henry and Henrietta among the regular sights around the grounds.

The Sykes Gem Awards, launched in 2017, recognise outstanding holiday accommodation and parks across a portfolio of more than 25,000 properties. Winners are judged on guest feedback, property quality, occupancy and facilities.

Stonerush Lakes owner Silvano Geranio said: “We are over the moon with our Sykes Gem Award. After another incredibly busy summer, it feels wonderful to have all the hard work that goes into running the resort recognised in this way.

“Stonerush Lakes is a special place. The lakes, woodland and wildlife create such a peaceful setting. I’m incredibly proud of what we've achieved together, and this award is a fantastic recognition of their dedication.”
