Jolly's Cornwall Cricket League Four (East)
Stoke Climsland v Colan
Stoke Climsland entertained nine man Colan on Saturday, in a confusing match with three players called Rundle (all unrelated), with two for Colan and one for Stoke. Colan skipper A Rundle won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Stoke struggled to cope with the pace of Wright and slumped to 18-3 early on. However stands of 33 between Lambert (8) and Andy Pearce (41) for the fourth wicket and then 49 between Pearce and Mark Rundle for the fifth wicket helped the score over the 100 mark.
Indeed Stoke were indebted to Andy Pearce, in his first game of the season, for his 41 as he held the innings together and gave Stoke a score to defend.
After Mark Rundle had been caught behind (thankfully avoiding the scorebook entry Rundle ct Rundle b Rundle!) the innings fell away to 126 all out in 46 overs.
A. Rundle took 4-32 from 13 overs but Wright was the outstanding bowler with 4-16 from 14 overs including seven maidens. Stoke thanked an incredible 50 extras for boosting their score made up of two leg byes, 4 no balls, 19 byes and 25 wides.
In reply A and M Rundle opened the batting against Bennett and Parker who surprisingly failed to take a wicket in their opening 11 over spell. Mark Rundle was introduced into the bowling attack and removed both his namesakes in quick succession, and the removal of Hinchcliffe (16) at 62 proved the end for Colan.
Some lusty blows from Wright (17) got the score up to 86 before the eighth and final wicket fell. M Rundle finished with 4-16 from 12 overs, Lambert took 2-10, captain Maunder got one and Bennett returned to take the final wicket.
Scores - Stoke 126 (Extras 50, Pearce 41, Wright 4-16, A Rundle 4-32). Colan 86 (M Rundle 4-16, Lambert 2-20).
Stoke (18 pts) 126 bt Colan 86 (seven) 86 by 40 runs.
