Friends Sue Murch and Muriel Hocking were not content to just read their copy of the Cornish Times during a trek in the Himalayas. They shared it with fellow trekkers they'd never met before – who want to buy a home in this area! The 61-year-olds from Tideford set off for Kathmandu last month to trek in the Himalayas and took the Cornish Times with them. Sue said: 'We hadn't had time to read the Cornish Times before we left on the Saturday so we took it to read on the plane. Of course, we never got around to reading it so we put it in our rucksacks.' The retired friends eventually read the paper at 3,900metres with Mount Everest providing a stunning backdrop. During the trek they also met up with the other travellers who bizarrely were looking to buy a house in the Saltash area. So the women passed on the Cornish Times property section to them! Sue said: 'I think that they were fairly amazed that we had a copy of the local paper.' 'It is a small world even when you are on top of it,' added Muriel.
