Looe and the surrounding parishes have a new police beat manager – but Helen Libby is no stranger to the area. Helen has explained that her role is to support the police community support officers (PCSO) and to deal with community policing issues that impact upon the public. She is assisted by Dave Billings, the PCSO for Looe and St Martins with Steve Cocks and Tom Barnes covering the other parishes. She has served in the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary for 20 years and in Cornwall for more than 18 years, working on patrol in Looe from 1993 until 1998 when she moved to the Action Team and then CID, covering Looe and the surrounding parishes. 'For the last four years I have worked at St Austell on the child protection team,' she said. 'I live in Polperro with my husband, PC Pat Libby who is the neighbourhood beat manager for the Rame Peninsular so between us we police the coast from Polruan to Cremyll. 'Please stop me and speak – I'll happily stand and chat. 'If you don't tell me your concerns I can't deal with them. 'In case you find speaking to me too scary I have arranged for some postcards and a postbox to be put in the library in Looe, so that you can leave messages for the neighbourhood team.'
