BRYAN Preston was re-elected Chairman of Live Wire Youth Club Management Committee at their annual meeting at the Waterside Club on Friday evening. He said that it had been a hectic year but had gone from strength to strength and they had received national recognition in the music world. Andy Rance the Project Co-ordinator giving his report said that they had about 25 young people a night attending until this year and now the numbers attending were between 70 and 80 a night. The Club had performed gigs all over Devon and Cornwall with their bands and groups. Members of the club had also helped Saltash Waterside Residents clean up the beach and they had also presented the childrens ward of Treliske Hospital with a DVD. Mrs Marjorie Schikowksy, Senior Saltash Town Councillor presented achievement certificates to many of the young people, including music certificates. Special awards went to James Branton and Matt Saunders. Mrs Schikowsky briefly told the meeting how the club had started in the 1940's and congratulated the young people.
