Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that people must stay at home or risk a fine.

All shops, apart from food stores and chemists, must close. People must stay at home except for basic necessities, once a day exercise, medical need, to care for a vulnerable person and travelling to and from essential work.

Libraries, playgrounds and outdoor gyms must close as well as places of worship - only funerals will be allowed.

If people do not follow the rules police will have the powers to enforce them including through fines and dispersing gatherings.
