Medical equipment to help patients breathe without the use of a ventilator has been created with the help of the Formula 1 team.
University College London engineers worked with doctors and Mercedes Formula 1 to build the devices in less than a week.
The Continuous Airway Pressure Devices (CPAP) are described as being halfway between a simple oxygen mask and the invasive mechanical ventilation a patient undergoes inside a ventilator.
If trials go well in the coming days, the CPAPs can be produced by Mercedes-AMG-HPP at a rate of up to 1,000 a day.
Meanwhile, industrial, technology and engineering companies in the UK have come together to produce medical ventilators for the NHS.
Airbus, BAE Systems, Ford, Rolls Royce and Siemens are among the firms that have contributed to the project.
