AN event providing help for people dealing with a health problem that remains a ‘taboo subject’ is to be held next week.
The seventh Bladder and Bowel Event (BABE) will take place on February 28 .
BABEs are aimed at supporting people with bladder and bowel problems and are organised by staff from colorectal, urological and gynaecological teams at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
The event will take place at the Future Inn, Derriford, and will include various talks by health specialists. Tea and coffee will be served from 9.30am and the event will run 10am to 12.30pm.
‘The bladder and bowels remain a taboo subject,’ said nurse Annie Cornelius. ‘For some individuals it can take years, if not decades, to pluck up the courage to approach their GP for advice and help.’
