TORPOINT Community College are celebrating the achievements of Year 13 students who collected their A-Level and CAMTEC results this morning (Thursday, August 13).

Students, families and staff gathered at the college to celebrate some excellent results, with over 50 per cent of the year group applying for places at university and many securing their first choice.

Other students will be continuing their studies in further education, as well as taking up employment through apprenticeships or joining the armed services.

Many students reached their target grades, with many achieving a number of A*, A and B grades, alongside excellent results in Cambridge Technical Sport and Physical Activity and Cambridge Technical Performing Arts.

Individual successes include a student who achieved A*AA in Physics, Biology and Maths, who will now study Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Exeter.

Another student, who will be studying Psychology at UWE Bristol, was rewarded with an A*A and a CAMTEC Distinction in Psychology, Spanish and Sport.

Taking up a place at the University of Exeter to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering was a student who achieved A*BB in Maths, Chemistry and Physics.

Other destinations for the Year 13 cohort include Arts University Plymouth, the University of Plymouth and the University of West London, where one student successfully auditioned and secured a place on their highly competitive Professional Acting degree.

Head of sixth form, Liz Bell, said: “I am incredibly proud to be part of our Sixth Form team, working with such wonderful students, parents and staff. Many members of this cohort have coped with significant personal challenges, as well as the disruption caused by the COVID pandemic during their early years at secondary school. I am delighted to see them being rewarded today and achieving their very best.”

She added: “I am looking forward to seeing how our Year 13 students of 2026 move forward, taking their skills and expertise with them into their next steps and flourishing in their chosen careers. Best of luck to the next generation of teachers, scientists, artists, designers, nurses and so many more.”
