Last weekend saw the Looe Golf Club April Medal which was the qualifier for the Lombard Trophy - where the winner represents the club with Pro Alistair Macdonald.
Bill Earnshaw, after many years in the wilderness, confirmed that he is back on form to win the medal with an excellent net 65. Trevor Frasle was one shot behind in division two, but had the consolation of winning the Lombard qualifier. Terry Taroni and Roger Slattery finished in third and fourth places in the division with 67s. Vice Captain Wayne Voden was the leading man in the first division, just edging out Mike Morris and Steve Hobbs, all on 69s, on a best back nine. Dave Carroll recorded an excellent score of 66 to win division three with Paul Libby in second place.

ST MELLION Seniors played as guests at Churston with their seniors on Monday March 27. Despite a bitterly cold wind and a defeat St Mellion enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere.

ON Tuesday April 22 Whitsand Bay Veterans played a 4 BBB stableford. Winners were - R Bennett and J Maddever, 46 pts; H Pryn and J Weddfield, 44; D Foster and L Wilton, 41.
On Friday a mixed match versus Carlyon Bay GC were played and won 7-1. Results - G Barrell and N Jenkins beat G Simpson and S Chapman by 2-1; P West and C West beat J Jones and G Jones by 2-1; R Jenkins and T Rawlings beat G Waugh and M Topping by 5-4; D Foster and D Barrell beat L Cornish and J Fitzhvan by 4-3; F Glanville and A Foster beat T Coorer and S Waggor by 6-4; D Rawlings and B Maddever beat L Pickering by 7-5; J Maddever and K Blake lost to C and A Roose by 5-4; C Hancock and F Powell beat T and J Gillingham by 4-3.
MARCH has been an active month at LOSTWITHIEL. The new ladies captain and vice-captain held a friendly team competition which was won by the vice-captain team 3-2. A friendly match gainst Trethorne was won by Lostwithiel. The away mixed friendly with China Fleet resulted in a win for the home team. Two Merlin matches were played, with an away loss to Culdrose and a home win against Killiow.
