A FUND-RAISER will be going back to his South East Cornwall roots on an end-to-end cycling trek.
Jeremy Tym is one of six cyclists riding from Land’s End to John o’Groats this autumn to raise money for the Jumbulance Trust, a charity making travel possible for adults and children who are disabled or have serious or complex health conditions.
The first leg of the journey, starting on Sunday, October 1, will end in Fowey, outside Clear.
That is where Jeremy’s late grandfather, Roger Loosley, was born and brought up.
A visit to Clear is still top of the list whenever family members come to Cornwall, and Jeremy’s mum Susan will be there to greet him on the day.
Roger was taught the piano by Norman Williams, of Fowey, and later played the organ in the town’s churches.
Jeremy, a casualty department charge nurse, is part of a team including a plasterer, a BT engineer, Jumbulance drivers and a dental student.
They hope to raise £20,000 on their 14-day trip.
There is a Just Giving page at justgiving.com, and the charity’s website is www.jumbulance.org.uk
