Looe Marine Conservation Group (LVMCA) is celebrating National Marine Week with a free rockpooling event for families.

The intertidal zone at Hannafore is an area teeming with life, says LVMCA – and we humans are largely unaware of the dramatic events that play out within the pools.

Among the creatures are air-breathing fish, starfish that can regrow their arms and even their stomachs, and sea squirts who can digest their own brains.

Experts will be on hand to identify creatures and provide information. The Rockpool Ramble will take place on Friday, August 5, from 1.45pm to 3.15pm and there is no need to book ahead.

Those wishing to take part should meet at Hannafore Point, West Looe. For further details, email [email protected]
