AN afternoon filled to the brim with festive cheer and sparkle is promised in Polperro as the village holds its Christmas Market and Lights Up celebration on Saturday, December 2.
The whole village joins together from 2pm onwards with activities focusing on Big Green.
Homes and businesses have been making their properties look festive in the hopes of being judged the best decorated; awards will be made in the week before Christmas Day.
On Saturday, December 2, children will love saying hello to the donkeys who are coming back to Polperro this year to make things extra Christmassy.
And youngsters can also take part in a festive treasure hunt around the village at any time in the afternoon.
Here is a guide to the afternoon activities (all times are approximate):
2pm: Christmas Market opens, with refreshments available including mulled wine and roasted chestnuts.
3.50pm: Polperro Drama Group.
4.45pm: A visit from Father Christmas.
5pm: Rock Choir performance.
6pm: Polperro’s lights will be switched on by Lord Mayor Gina Farrell
After the lights have gone on, readings will be made by Polperro Primary School children, and all are encouraged to join in with carol singing accompanied by the St Pinnock Band.
