MEMBERS of a Polperro family have taken on some adrenalin-laced fundraising for their local football club.

David Gilbert and his nephew Tim Ryan leapt into action from 30,000 feet during a tandem skydive, raising £500 for Polperro AFC’s clubhouse appeal.

Meanwhile David’s sister Vicky Gilbert and her good friend Louise Bird were set to take part in the ‘Big Swim Cornwall’. While the event was cancelled due to poor weather, the pair swam a chilly mile in the harbour while they were there.

David, 34, who captains the village’s 1st team, says that Polperro Football Club badly needs a new changing block.

Another aspect to the Football Club’s plans is to knock out the existing changing rooms in the bottom clubhouse to create a large hall for community use - a facility which David says is badly needed in the Killigarth and Brent area of Polperro.
