A private collection of the iconic designer Norman Hartnell’s outfits and designs, as well as photos and other memorabilia, will be exhibited at St Lalluwy’s Church, Menheniot, from April 22 to 24.
A number of the exhibits showcase Sir Norman’s work as Her Majesty’s favourite dressmaker, including his design for the going-away outfit worn by the then Princess Elizabeth after her wedding in 1947.
At 7pm on April 22, there will be a talk by Claire Williams (Norman Hartnell’s goddaughter) about the life and work of the fashion designer.
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 5pm on April 22 and 23, and from 12.30pm to 5pm on April 24. The weekend’s activities will end with evensong in the church, at 5pm on Sunday. The exhibition entry fee is £5.
The event is being organised in aid of SSAFA and St Lalluwy’s Church.
