Lack of members has forced Millbrook Rugby Club to close down, despite the fact that it has pitch, posts, pads, two sets of shirts and a line-marker, plus good funding. All that is lacking are the players.

The club's final meeting was held at the Devon and Cornwall Inn when the five committee members who were present decided to wind up the club.

Chairman Derek Richard outlined the need to hold the committee meeting. Committee member Brian McGrath, supported by fellow committee member Dave Joryeff, sadly reported that the lack of members was the prime reason for moving the motion that the club should be wound up.

Treasurer Joyce Goodacre reported that the decision was not affected by any shortage of funding, since there was approximately £189 in the Giro Bank account and there are no outstanding accounts to be settled.

It was agreed that a cup, in memory of founder member the late Ralph Griffiths, should be purchased and inscribed at a cost of around £60 to £80. This would be presented to the winners of the annual Boxing Day match between Millbrook and Torpoint players, to be held for that year, the remaining funds to be equally divided between St Luke's Hospice and the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The posts erected at Maker Camp are to be presented to the Chairman of the Rame Conservation Trust Mr W Dunstone and any ancillary equipment, such as pads, flags, etc, will be given to Torpoint Rugby Club. It was reported that it was understood that the line marker was already in use at the Millbrook AFC.
