THE A387 Looe to Polperro road has been closed for a number of hours today by a serious accident between Parker Cross and Barcelona Cross.

The accident occurred outside the Oaklands Caravan Park, closing off access to it by vehicles both trying to enter it and to leave it.

Following the accident at around midday a fire engine, police vehicles, an ambulance car and an ambulance were seen hurrying to the scene through Liskeard and Pelynt.

It was later reported that an elderly man had been airlifted to hospital with serious chest injuries and a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said there had been a collision involving a Citroen saloon and a Ford Ranger.

The road was reportedly still closed at 2.15pm.
