Tory leader David Cameron joked that it was the 'first of the campaign' after he was hit by an egg on Wednesday during a visit to a college in Saltash.

Mr Cameron was struck on the back as he emerged from answering students' questions at Cornwall College Saltash.

The egg was thrown by a student wearing a grey hoody top. He was immediately bundled away by police officers.
