Students all over South East Cornwall have been collecting their GCSE results today.
There were success stories all over the district, including twins Ollie and Will Trevarthen in Liskeard, who gained a raft of 20 top grades between them.
Councillor Sally Hawken, who looks after Children and Families on Cornwall Council, reassured all youngsters that even if things hadn’t quite gone as expected, there will be lots of options open.Collecting GCSE results can be an emotional time for teenagers and their families alike, however, young people now have access to more pathways than ever before.
’While young people now continue in learning or training until they are 18, this does not mean they need necessarily to stay on in a classroom. Many will choose to remain in full time education, such as a school sixth form or FE College, however they can also opt for work based learning such as an apprenticeship or take part in part time education or training,’ she said.
’Anyone who is unsure what to do next should contact the National Careers Service which offers free and impartial advice.’
There’ll be lots more pictures from GCSE results day in your Cornish Times, out tomorrow.
