SCHOOLCHILDREN in South East Cornwall will be taking part in a space experiment. The primary school pupils are due to plant seeds that have spent several months inside the International Space Station. They will be asked to compare the growth rates of the ‘space’ seeds with those of rocket lettuce seeds which have stayed on Planet Earth. Children from the six Caradon Co-operative Educational Trust Schools – Coad’s Green, Delaware, Gunnislake, Pensilva, St Kew and Upton Cross – and from Landulph have signed up for the nationwide science experiment. Other schools are also likely to take part. Meanwhile, children from the educational trust schools have been involved in sessions at the Eden Project linked to Major Peake’s mission. More than 100 children visited Eden to learn about robotics and other aspects of life in space. There’s more on this in this week’s Cornish Times, on sale now.
