Cornwall Music Education Hub has once again staged Songfest, a county-wide celebration of singing for local schools.
The Songfest 2017 concert tour began with a 240-strong massed children’s choir from 14 different schools who performed at the Hall for Cornwall.
Since then hundreds more children have performed at the Princess Pavilions in Falmouth and Launceston Town Hall.
There was also a ‘Songfest Unplugged’ mini-concert in Torpoint.
This year’s programme, ‘Rockin’ All Over the World,’ focused on music from around the globe, with songs performed in a number of different languages.
The first act at each of the concerts featured performances by students from local secondary schools, colleges and universities, as well as by the Hub’s own County Choirs.
The choir was accompanied by a four-piece band made up of professional musicians who also teach for the Cornwall Music Service Trust.
One concert at Launceston Town Hall featured students from Launceston College and a massed choir made up of singers from Dobwalls, Harrowbarrow, Pensilva, St Dominic and St Mellion schools.
The second Launceston concert featured more students from Launceston College and singers from Coads Green. North Petherwin, Sir Robert Geoffreys, South Petherwin, St Cleer, Blisland, St Stephen’s Saltash, Tregadillet and Trekenner.
The event at St James Church, Torpoint was due to feature groups and soloists from Saltash.net Community School and Torpoint Community College and singers from Antony, Millbook and Quethiock schools.
