LISKEARD Hillfort Primary School has triumphed in several categories after entering three teams in the first round of the annual local ‘Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition’, held at St Cleer Primary School. Elevens teams from Hillfort, St Cleer, Braddock and Trenode schools took part in the event. The Hillfort pupils came out on top in various categories. Adam won the ‘Best Answer on the Night’ award, and Victoria the ‘Best Vote of Thanks.’ The Year 6 girls’ team successfully made it through to the next round, which will be the district heat later this month. They will compete against other first round winners from East Cornwall and West Devon. Hillfort School principal Dr Tim Cook said: ‘We are all thrilled with our pupils’ efforts at this event. Learning how to express yourself clearly and with expression is no mean feat, especially in front or an audience.
