Cornwall Children’s Centres are launching a new Passport to Independence this week as part of their support for families in Cornwall to help them develop new skills, access training and take part in volunteering.

Children’s Centres have worked closely with Job Centre Plus, Cornwall College, Adult Education, Family Learning and many others to develop a passport that parents can use to celebrate and record their training and learning achievements as they make their way back to work and independence.

In conjunction with Cornwall College and Family Learning, Children’s Centres across Cornwall will be offering a range of taster sessions, including cake decorating, jewellery making, photography, mini-manicures and other activities, from today so that parents can try out a new skill.

Support will also be available for parents to discuss their next steps in terms of what courses, training or volunteering opportunities might be available to them.

The taster sessions are free and parents are welcome to bring the children as there will be activities for them to take part in whilst parents try their hand at a new skill.  Refreshments will also be available for parents and children.

Anyone who would like to come along should contact their nearest Children’s Centre for details of the taster sessions that are happening in their area.

Alternatively they can contact Family Information Services for information on 08005878191or [email protected]
