Military Academy students at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, have been undergoing training.

Using the new specialist facility featured in last week’s Cornish Times, the students have been acting as if they were at a forward-operating base in a host nation in support of local security forces.

In the scenarios, they have been tasked with assisting in providing stability and security against a terrorist group.

Lecturer and course manager Jon Stone said: ‘The training exercises have been prepared well in advance of recent events, but the training has been given more resonance and relevance.’

He continued: ‘Our students do go on to careers in the armed forces and public services and in our exercise we wanted to tie them together and show how they operate together.’
