Almost 95 per cent of parents in Cornwall have received the good news that their child has been accepted in the school of their choice when they join the reception class this September.

Cornwall Council received 5555 applications and over 98 per cent of applicants were offered a place at a school they named as one of their three preferences.  But the Council recognises some families may be disappointed by their allocation. Out of the 227 schools with reception classes 78 of those are full after the first round of allocations.

The number of oversubscribed schools is expected to increase as late applications for places are processed over the next few weeks.  The Council has received more than 97 late applications so far.
