The Red Arrows will not be coming to Fowey this summer because of defence cuts, Harbour Commissioners have announced.

The news is a blow to the town, which fought hard to bring the popular display back for Regatta Week last year.

In a statement posted on the Fowey Harbour website, harbourmaster Paul Thomas said: ‘We are disappointed to announce that due to cuts in defence spending the Red Arrows have been forced to reduce their display programme for 2018. Fowey has been a victim of these cuts.

‘After the hard work of restoring the Fowey display in 2017, to lose it now is bitterly disappointing for the Harbour Commissioners and the Fowey community.’
