Argyle players will have to put behind them last week's 0-0 draw with Stoke City and focus on tomorrow's visit to Leicester City. Argyle manager Bobby Williamson was still seething this week at the referee in the Stoke City match, after denying Argyle a deserved winning goal. In the after-match press conference, Williamson was scathing in his indictment of the match official's performance, saying: 'He looked very good out there strutting about, but he seemed to get the backs up of everybody. 'Both sets of supporters and both benches were up in arms with some of the decisions made.' Williamson has since calmed down, saying: 'We have to put it behind us and concentrate on the match at Leicester.' The last time the pair met was in the 1991/92 season when Witter and Fiore scored the goals in a 2-2 home draw, as Argyle slumped to 22nd in the old Division Two. Today's Leicester has gone through traumatic times of late. The club that spawned striking legend Gary Linaker, plunged from the Premier Division last season and have struggled to make any impression in the Coca-Cola Championship. Argyle can expect as tough a match as they had against Stoke City, with Leicester having drawn half of their league matches to date. Six of their last eight have ended all square, including Saturday's 0-0 draw at table toppers Wigan Athletic. Any side that has the quality of Martin Keown, Nikos Dabitas, Keith Gillespie, Lilian Nalis, Dion Dublin, James Scowcroft, Scott Gemmill, Danny Tiato, Matt Elliott, Jason Wilcox and Ian Walker will take some stopping. Argyle may choose the same formation as they did against Stoke City, with captain Paul Wotton sitting in front of the back four, leaving David Norris, David Friio, Tony Capaldi in the midfield. It is highly unlikely Williamson will leave two players up front. Therefore a 4-1-4-1 formation may well be preferred, with Lee Makel being re-instated in the midfield. The game against Stoke cried out for a ball-playing midfielder, and when Makel came on for the injured Friio, Argyle stepped up the pace.
Striker Blair Sturrock returned to Argyle after his unsuccessful trial at Swansea City to play in the reserve fixture at Cheltenham Town, where Tony Capaldi and Marino Keith scored in the 2-1 win.
The U18s suffered a 4-3 reverse at home to Swansea City, where Chris Reski, Daniel Smith and Marc Robotham were the scorers. The U16s drew 0-0 at Exeter City.
