Division One
The biggest result of the week's Division One games saw Crown Inn A beat Royal Talbot 11-0, the whitewash being achieved by Steve Rosevear, Marcus Vincent, Mike Netherton, Chris Bonney, Richard Hann and Kevin Netherton.
Last years champions, Bridges Worthys, started the season by winning their derby match with Bridges B 10-1. A clean sweep of singles wins was won by Andrew Daniell, Steve and Andrew Bray, Richard Rule, Tony Cheeseman and Andy Hoskin.
Kings Arms kicked off their season with a 9-2 home win over Lanivet Inn. Kings singles winners were Robert Odgers, Ian Clarke, Denis Odgers and Nathan Libby whilst Lanivets winners were Scott Winter-Baker and Rob Williams.
Monmouth A (formerly the Royal Talbot A (lost their first match in their new home by 6-5 to Russell Inn. The singles were shared the Russells victors being Steve Edmonds, Bill Taylor and Rob Taylor whilst Monmouths winners were Malcolm Swiggs, Gregs Pearce and Katharine Swiggs.
Social Club A had a narrow 6-5 home win start to their season when they beat Royal Oak (formerly Royal Talbot C) both sides won three singles games each,Tony Philp, John Keast and Jack Rowe for Social Club and Les Giggal, Tom Foot and Andy Honey for Oak.
The game between Globe Nomads and Con Club B (formerly Earl of Chatham B) was postponed.
Division Two
Lugger Inn, Polruan started their second season in the league with a 10-1 away victory 'across the water' at Lugger Hotel, Fowey. Luggers winners were Fleur Parsons, Derek Goacher, Peter Garton (who hit a 180), Andrew Gallears and Tosh Bawden. The homeside started the whitewash when landlady Carol Tambling beat Gary Beresford in the final game.
In the Pencaran derby the A team, relegated from division one last season, beat the B team 10-1. A white wash of singles wins was gained by Sid Merchant (who had a 141 finish), Andy Beer, Bill Hayley, Roger Beer, Brian Reed and Peter Catlin.
The Globe Trotters started their season off with a 7-4 home win over Crown Inn B. Trotters singles winners were Martin Skews, Mike Caesar, Clive Massy and Barry Duguid with David Scott and Paul Perkins winning for crown.
Two new teams squared up at the Russell Inn with Monmouth B beating the Russell Rascals 7-4. Monmouths singles winners were Matthew Wilton, Brian Harvey, Paul Hendicott and Jason Duguid with Ray Hemley (Jnr) and Eric Tomlin.
In the Chatham derby the C team beat the A team by 6-5. Both teams won three singles each with the C teams winners being Maxi Ashton, Clive Perrin and Bobby Wilton whilst the A teams winners were Carol Harvey, Gary McIntosh and Martin Sweet.
Globe Ramblers had a narrow 6-5 away victory over Con Club originals. Ramblers winners were John Watt, Rob Pederson, Kenny Cook and Ian Fraser whilst Con Clubs winners were Ken Harris and Martin Sands.
Ladies Division
Pencaran had a 7-4 away victory over Earl of Chatham making them early league leaders. Pencaran's winners were Christine Merchant, Julie Searle, Sharon Puckey and Donna Martin whilst Chatham's winners were Jean Mann and Lorraine Wherry.
Monmouth Hotel beat Royal Oak at home by the narrow margin of 6-5. The singles were shared with Monmouth's winners being Claire Nicholls, Karen Lee and Shirley Nicholls whilst Bernadette Dixon, Liz MacLennan and Micky Lee won for Oak.
The game between Globe and Social Wanderers was postponed whilst Express Fives received their bye.
