Paul batted first at Boconnoc on Saturday and after losing five wickets for 70 recovered to total 223-9 with Neil Davies (67), Rob Anderson (47) and Rob Button (36) the main scorers with Rob Trump (4-56), Gary Isbell (3-64) and Phil Brotherwood (2-60) the Boconnoc wicket takers.
In reply the home team lost Gary Isbell early, but a stand of 113 between Martin Cook (63) and Mike Blake (43) put them in with a chance. But when both were dismissed within three balls the innings lost momentum and slumped to 140-5.
Richard Isbell (10 n.o.) and David Key (14 n.o.) then shared an unbroken stand of 40 for the sixth wicket to finish on 180-5, 44 runs short of victory and leaving them very much in the relegation zone.
