Luckett v Gorran

Gorran made a very good start after winning the toss and decided to bat with Rob Hurrell and Fred Semple putting on 61 runs for the final wicket, with Hurrell hitting 40 of them with seven fours and a six in his innings. Semple was out soon after for 30, useful knocks from A Noott (16), Dave Behennah (23), A House (36) and M Bawden (19) taking them to a useful 201-6.

Gorran must have been a little disappointed with this score after being 102-2 after only 20 overs on Luckett's very fast outfield. Luckett's bowlers on a very hot afternoon conceded only 93 runs from the last 28 overs, with John Schutkacker taking 1-46 from eight overs, Roy Williams 1-36 from 10, Chris Bowden who was to become Luckett's Man of the Match later took 3-45 from 16 overs, Matt Perry 1-18 and Roger Berry bowled 11 overs for only 41 runs without taking a wicket.

In Luckett's reply, Chris Bowden and Roy Williams made a very good start, putting on 70 runs in quick time when Roy had to retire hurt for 35 (five fours). Luckett then lost three more wickets cheaply. Paul Lowden then joined Bowden and the pair put on 73 runs for the fourth wicket, with Lowden being bowled for 46, four fours and two sixes in his innings. Just as it looked like Man of the Match Chris Bowden was to carry his bat he was caught for 58, (eight fours in his innings) with his score at 179 for five. Luckett were just about home and dry, Dave Brown and Matt Perry took Luckett to victory and a rare victory over Gorran. The match ball was sponsored by The Royal Inn, Horsebridge.
