In one of the most tense games played this season, Luckett tied with Gorran when both teams finished on 222. In Gorran's total, there were only four double figure scores, the best of the day coming from M C Shepherd whose knock of 109 not out including 14 fours and a six.
M Rosamood scored 39, D Hardy (16) and D Evans (15). The wicket takers for Luckett were Dave Colwill, who took 5-61 in 16 overs, Brian Robins 2-32 in eight and Darran Piper took 2-34 in five overs.
In reply, six of Luckett's batsmen got into double figures, but their top score came from extras, a total of 55 including 26 byes, seven leg byes, two no balls and 20 wides. Darran Piper scored 42 including seven fours and a six, Brian Robins got 38 (five fours and a six), Chris Gair scored 15, while Paul Ingerson (15) and Ian Roberts (10) also did well.
Perhaps the most important stand was for the last wicket, between the old veteran Gordon Finch and 14-year-old Adrian Robins, for as the ninth wicket fell, Luckett still needed 19 runs to win, or 18 to tie. Between them, the pair put on 18 to tie the match, with Finch finishing on six not out.
Luckett took 17 points here to keep them top of the table, while Gorran took 16. The pick of Gorran's bowlers was M C Shepherd, who took 6-41 from 12 overs. T Blamey (2-57) and M Atkins (1-42) also did well.
