A LANDRAKE couple saw in the New Year with a brave new look for a good cause.
In front of a socially-distanced group of supporters at the village park, Caroline and Simon Norris both had their heads shaved to raise funds for the charity Breast Cancer Now.
It was Simon’s sister, Emma Raw, who took on the role of barber, and Emma’s own fight with cancer which had inspired the couple’s decision. Speaking ahead of the event on Saturday, Caroline said: “I am shaving my hair to support my very beautiful and brave sister- in-law Emma, who is currently going through the fight. I am so very proud of her.”
Simon and Caroline had dyed their hair purple in preparation for the shave, said their friend Charles Smith-Jones.
“The temperatures hovering at around freezing only served to highlight the bravery of the couple, although warm headgear was held at the ready against the unaccustomed chill.
“The Norrises only real concern was whether their spaniels would recognise their ‘new’ owners!”
Donations to Breast Cancer Now are very welcome, either through the Landrake Village Store or online at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/caroline-norris7
