Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club members are continuing preparations for the Sunday, July 5, race meeting being held for the benefit of Phil Stoneman.
The event forms part of a two-day race weekend at the popular St Erme venue.
The club are keen to make this event as successful as possible so that it can be seen as a fitting tribute to a true gentleman of racing, whose career has been cut short due to injuries.
Phil suffered horrific leg injuries in an accident at the British Masters in 2008.
After suffering a painful seven months of operations and failed rehabilitation, he finally received the tragic news that he was to have part of his leg amputated below the knee.
Phil continues to support his son, Nathan, in his fledgling speedway career and does as much as he can for him, but his injury has obviously caused a great deal of this support to cease.
After two rounds of the 2009 British Under-15s Championship, Nathan holds third place in the 250cc class.
Phil has ridden grass track and speedway sidecars for several years, and has competed with a number of top outfits including Rick McAuley, Neal Owen, Clive Stoneman, Tony Cook, Allan Morgan and, more recently, Richard Thomas.
With Richard, he finished in the top six in the British Masters in 2006. He has been an excellent sportsman over the years, always willing to talk or lend advice to the less experienced.
Cornwall Solo want to make this Phil's day, and make it a special one.
It is felt that by asking the country's top sidecar riders to attend and race, it would give Phil a fitting send off from competition.
The superb 'Forty Acres' venue has had plenty of attention this season.
It was used in April and proved to be super smooth, serving up some fantastic, incident-free sidecar racing.
The circuit will be receiving more work from the dedicated CSGTC track staff on the run up to the event and will be in tip top condition, ready for Sunday, July 5.
The circuit is easy to find, less than half-a-mile from the main A30 road, and not too far into Cornwall.
The club are also running their annual 'Grand Slam' event the day before, on the Saturday.
A special grass track auction will take place in the beer tent, raising money for the Phil Stoneman benefit.
It would be fantastic to have as many as possible attend the auction, making a good weekend in Cornwall.
