An adrenalin-fuelled 60th birthday is in store for a well-known Liskeard Councillor.

Sandra Mitchell, who also works at the town’s Co-op, will throw herself from a plane at 12,000 feet - and it is all in the name of a good cause.

The skydive on October 6 will raise funds for Friends and Families of Special Children, an organisation providing information, support and services to those who love and care for disabled youngsters.

Sandra said: ’The charity arranges social and leisure events, allowing people some time out to have fun and recharge batteries. This can make a huge difference in their lives.

‘They are non profit making and I want to help by providing funds for them to use - my passion is for families.’
