New link road
for Eden Project
THERE are proposals for a new link road between the A30 road and the town of St Austell - which would also serve as a new route to the highly successful Eden Project.
The recommendation has been made by Cornwall council's Executive, whose members heard that the existing A391 provides poor access between the trunk road network and the Eden Project. At present it is used by 7,000 vehicles a day, but this number is likely to rise to l0,000 vehicles per day by 2006. The expected increase is said to be a result of traffic growth, completion of the A30 Bodmin bypass to Indian Queens scheme and the huge numbers of visitors attracted to the Eden Project, at Bodelva.

of complaints

Tanker write-off
THE MV Willy, the petrol tanker which ran aground in Cawsand Bay on New Year's Day, has been declared a write off. After days of being stuck on the rocks and pounded by storm force seas she sustained much damage to her hull and getting her to Falmouth docks for assessment was a difficult operation.
