Hundreds of

lost lane hours

CLOSURES on the Tamar Bridge totalled 566 lane hours during the period l September to 30 November 2000.

The joint Tamar Bridge and Joint Ferry committee have been told that this represents approximately an 8.6% loss of the facility to the public, the majority of this due to the strengthening and widening project.

Bypass plan is omitted

SOUTH East Cornwall MP Colin Breed has criticised the government's local transport plan for the South West for omitting such schemes as the Dobwalls bypass.

He stressed the A39 Camelford bypass is the only major road improvement for the county which has been announced by Whitehall, and said he found it difficult 'to understand how that scheme could be prioritised over Dobwalls and Goss Moor, neither of which, apparently, have been considered.'
