On a very uneven and heavy pitch Polyne Garage sponsored Tideford can feel unfortunate that they did not clinch a semi final place after a hard and robust game at St Dennis.
Boscowan exerted most of the early pressure and it was no surprise when they took the lead through Brian Green, who had moments before hit the woodwork. However Tideford continued to defend well and gradually began to take the game to Boscowan. It was no more than they deserved when they equalised through Glen Tookey just before half time and they could have gone into the lead just before the interval had a player not been deemed to have been offside.
After the interval Tideford continued to pressurise Boscowan and against the run of play Boscowan took a 2-1 lead with a goal from Dave Rickard. You could sense that it was not going to be Tideford's day when Boscowan went further ahead rather fortunately when a defensive block rebounded to Green who made no mistake.
Good goalkeeping thwarted Tideford on two occasions when Carlos Norville was clean through, but they continued to press forward and reduced the deficit with an excellent long range shot from Colin Patten. Tideford continued to create chances but could not find the equaliser that would have taken them into extra time, which was a disappointment as they finished looking the stronger of the two teams.
