A POP up children’s clothes bank will take place at Liskeard Methodist Church Hall on Saturday March 12 from 10am - 12 noon.
Organisers are appealing for donations of clean second hand clothing in good condition.
The Cornwall Children’s Clothes Bank was founded by Candy Coates and holds regular events in Truro and Camborne. Volunteers with Liskeard Community Action (LCA) have now joined forces with the existing team to bring the concept to Liskeard.
‘The idea is to gather second hand children’s clothes from generous families in our community and redistribute them to anyone that may need them locally,’ said Leah Browning of LCA.
‘Liskeard laundrette have kindly offered to help ensure clothes are clean. Our community continues to pull together to support each other,’ she continued.
‘Everyone is welcome to come and grab some new togs and have some cake and a cuppa while the kids play in a warm and friendly environment.’
Liskeard Community Action is encouraging local groups, businesses or individuals who could donate items, volunteer time or offer up storage space to get in touch via Facebook or contact Helen Gardner at Liskeard Methodist Church.
‘If support remains strong and the demand is high, we will look to expand from a pop up event to regular events locally,’ said Leah.
Donations of children’s clothing can be dropped off at the following locations in Liskeard: Liskerrett Community Centre in Varley Lane; Vintage 72 in the Cattle Market Car Park; and Liskeard Methodist Church. In Looe, The Beach Shack at Church End are acting as a drop-off point.
