Plans for the town's Christmas event are well underway. This year the carol service will not be in Victoria Gardens, but in the centre of the town outside the Co-op area, on December 7 – a Friday evening instead of a Monday as in previous years. It was thought this would be better for the number of schoolchildren taking part in the carol service. Cllr Joe Ellison, chairman of civic amenities, announced proposed plans for a clean up of the wood adjacent to Ell Well Lane, near the Tamar Bridge. The land is owned by Caradon Council, and Mr Ellison thinks it would be an asset to the town for people to be able to use this area. He has written to Caradon for permission to do the work on the area.
