Swingletree played an outstanding match against Action. Swingle, having lacked their usual standard in the last few games largely due to losing a good player to pregnancy, have come back on top again. Centre court play from them was excellent. Centre Bridgette Yendle played well against one of Action's best players Heather Cradick, slowing the game down and making some good interceptions along with WD Jude Shipton, normally WA.
Both shooters had good games and fought hard against Action's good defence.
GD Sophie Chaplin, being new to this position, played well, blocking and intercepting, causing problems for Action's Shooter who, when they got the chance, shot some outstanding goals.
Swingle gradually pulled away and once this happened there was no stopping them. Final score, Swingle 34, Action 12.
Plums also had a good match against one of the top teams in the league, Castle Motors. Even though they did not come out the victors they gave their best performance yet. Castle led from the beginning but it was no easy game. Plums fought hard and caused Castle to make silly mistakes. But Plums nerves got to them and mistakes were made which helped Castle streak ahead.
GS Dorrie Lubman and GA Phillipa Bond played well against such an experienced defence and shot some outstanding goals. Their GD Katie Henning also featured. By the second half though there was no stopping Castle's GS Judith Ferris who scored some good goals using her height well. Hayley Edwards came on in the last quarter for Plums and played an outstanding game. They really needed her support from the beginning as she held the team together and made some great interceptions. Castle 41, Plums 10.
