Steve Blatchford, the chairman of Callington Colts Football Club, has decided to step down at this year's AGM, which takes place on Wednesday.

Committee members have paid tribute to Steve and what he has done for the club during his time there.

He was appointed as vice-chairman on November 19, 2001, before being named as chairman the following May.

In that time he has had to deal with many ups and downs and has always been prepared to take the flack in situations where others have caused the problems.

While his time-keeping at meetings has always been a little suspect, admit his colleagues, he has always worked diplomatically to make sure that things have worked out for the benefit of Callington Colts.

He has been an excellent chairman, making sound and well thought out decisions.

Steve is Callington Colts through and through, with his sole aim to make sure the young people of the area have the opportunity to develop their footballing ability.

He is also a very good manager, teaching the players first and foremost to enjoy the game and to respect the referees regardless of the decisions made.

Steve was presented with an award for his years of dedicated service at the club's annual presentation evening.
