POST Office services in a village have been saved thanks to the efforts of local people.
In Millbrook, residents heard in November that their post office, which currently operates from the Premier Store, would close on Tuesday, January 16.
With no alternative suitable retail premises available, community organisation the Rame Peninsula Trust sprang into action.
Together with Millbrook Parish Council, the trust worked hard over the Christmas period to secure an outreach post office at its Rame Centre on Millbrook’s West Street.
The service will be run two days a week by Menheniot postmaster Gary Walters, and is set to launch on Friday, January 19 – leaving residents with only a three-day gap in provision.
Initial opening hours for the pop-up service will be Tuesday 3pm-5pm and Friday 2pm- 5pm.
