Local lifeguards and holidaymakers combined last week in a successful effort to save a five-year-old boy from drowning off Sharrow Point, Whitsand Bay. Local head lifeguard, Jason Symons, and holidaymaker, Richard Vernon, were among those who helped pull the boy from the sea and give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. He was then taken by helicopter to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.
