Having started the season with two good Premier League victories on their travels, Callington Town, under the guidance of the new managership pair of Paul Blatchford and Kevin Kirsch had wanted to start well at the new Ginsters Marshfield Parc but no one could have predicted the final score as Town crushed their unfortunate opponents on Saturday.

From the first minute you could see the difference in the teams with the Town defensive trio of Adam Reid, Simon Hunt and Dean Martin completely in command. Jason Gregory quickly put the home side ahead and on 10 minutes Kieron Ruck added a second.

Fowey briefly pressed but could not get even close to Blatchford in the Town goal and after a period of consolidation, Callington added further goals before the break with Gregory completing his hat-trick and Hunt and Gerry also scoring.

The second half was one way traffic as Town destroyed their opponents. Gregory added a further four goals to take his total to seven, Ruck weighed in with a total of five goals while Darren Barford, Trefor Griffith (pen) and even 'keeper Blatchford from the penalty spot scored one apiece. Shaun Smith added a single consolation for United late on but it was Callington who were left celebrating the biggest victory for the club in its 11 years.
