With a perfect playing surface and conditions ideal, both sides settled early and played some very attractive football. It was Saltash who made the breakthrough, following a 20 yard free-kick. The ball deflected off the wall to give Fletcher no chance.

Chances came and went at both ends, Smith and Reid going close for Callington, but Saltash extended their lead with a fine individual goal from Fish who struck an unstoppable drive from 25 yards. Callington continued to press and were rewarded three minutes before the break following a corner which was partially cleared, the ball falling to Hicks 20 yards out. His left-footed drive sailed into the bottom corner.

After the break, Callington gained control and when Gregory was upended in the box Smith made no mistake from the spot to make the score 2-2. It was now all about Callington. Peel latched onto a cross from Smith to nod in from six yards and a minute later a great through ball from Brooks found Truscott with only the keeper to beat. He calmly tok it past him to find the back of the net. With 15 minutes to go Callington got their fifth. Following some good build-up play, Jury's low cross into the box was met by a Saltash player whose attempted clearance gave his keeper no chance. To wrap it up, Fitze scored his first goal for Callington following a cross from the right.
